PTA
Purpose
What is the purpose of the PTA?
The purpose of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is to support students, families, and staff. We directly support our students and school by putting on events and fundraisers to develop our school community and enhance our students' educational experience. Membership funds go towards three things: our membership fee in the California State PTA, paying for the insurance that we have to carry at each event, and putting on the events themselves for students, staff, and families to attend.
Joining/Cost
How do I join and how much does it cost?
Near the beginning of the school year, membership envelopes are sent out to all families. If you would like to join the PTA and did not receive an envelope, contact the office for one. The fee to be a member of the PTA for the year is $7.
Member Expectations
What are the expectations of PTA Members?
There are a few ways to be involved.
1. Be a silent financial partner: pay $7 per school year to be a PTA member and your money goes towards putting on our school events and paying for the insurance we’re required to carry for those events. Parents, students, and staff can be PTA members.
2. Be a financial/volunteer partner: pay $7 per school year (for the reasons above) as well as volunteer to help out at events. This is where we need the most people. When you sign up as a volunteer, you submit your phone or email to the PTA team and we will call to request volunteers at our events as needed. You are not required to volunteer at every event. You can help out as little or as much as you want. If you aren't available to help out at an event, then that's fine. Maybe the next event will work out better for your schedule. There is no time requirment or commitment.
3. Be a financial/volunteer/board member: pay $7 per school year (for the reasons above), help out at events when available, and hold a position on the PTA Board. We are required to fill certain positions to have a PTA at the school. If we don’t have these basic positions filled, we aren’t able to keep our PTA. We are working with a short-staffed Board and currently need a VP of Membership if anyone is interested. We meet the last Monday of the month at 5:30pm. Our board members are expected to attended the monthly meetings and participate in the meeting.
Meetings
When are PTA General Meetings?
A PTA general meeting is for all members, not just board members. Most general meetings are held on the last Monday of the month at 5:30 pm in the front office. If there is no school on the last Monday of the month, we shift to a different date.
